THE REVIEW

The Review is a long poem (some 40 pages of long poem) published by The Knives Forks and Spoons Press in 2020. It can be read online here.

Clark Allison, reviewing it for Stride magazine, didn’t seem quite sure whether to like it or not, though he eventually seemed to come down on the side of the positive:

"This makes for a gripping, at times delightful and stimulating, thought provoking read, to my impression highly unusual, and indeed quite accomplished in terms of today's more innovative poetry."

(I love that “quite accomplished” . . . )

Mike Ferguson was more certain, calling it “an important narrative poem for our times”, which is interesting, because Allison had complained of “a lack of narrative development” – they can’t both be right, I think.

You can make up your own mind by purchasing the book from here.

(N.B. this is not a narrative poem – at least, not in the ordinary sense.)
